Our selection for this week is Jacqueline Tosline. She has a background in book-binding and film production, two tactile skills that bleed into her process as a photographer. For this feature, we’ve chosen four photographs from her south of southwest and everyday series. Throughout her portfolio, Tosline’s 35mm images frequently feature cinematic, almost other-worldly landscapes alongside candid portraits and sudden human moments. We admire the ways in which Tosline experiments with color—sometimes sharp, sometimes muted, sometimes black-and-white.When shooting, she says she aims to capture “the strange, the ordinary, and the awkward in-between.”
